Everyone seems to be very interested in a wedding date. (Yes, I'm engaged. Fun story. More to come on that later...)
And my only answer to that is: I promise that I will let you know when I know.
That doesn't seem to be a satisfactory answer to most people. But most of my answers re: this wedding seem to be unsatisfactory.
Example A: the conversation that I had with my mother last night:
Mom: You don't have to have a big fancy wedding. You can just pick a Presbyterian church anywhere and get married.
Me: I am pretty sure that, no matter what kind of wedding we have, a church won't be involved. I'm sorry, mom.
Mom: Well, oh. OK.
Me: I think it's just not going to be that kind of wedding.
Mom: So are you thinking that you'll do it somewhere outside? Or on the beach?
Me: Maybe something like that. I'm not sure.
Mom: Well, you'll still need a minister.
Me: Not necessarily...
Mom: Yes, you'll need a minister.
Me: Or a judge or a justice of the peace.
Mom: Oh.
She is thrilled that I'm finally getting married, but I am pretty sure that this broke a little piece of my mom's heart.
Just wait 'till I tell her that Boyfriend wants one of his friends to get ordained on-line so he can perform the wedding....
